Professional goals and Research interests Essay

Canada has made significant progress in helping students with disabilities to reach their fullest potential, but still much more remains to be done at the pre-college and post-secondary education levels and beyond those into competitive employment. Only a person with a disability knows what the fear is like and I know how to conquer the fear of speaking disability with confidence and courage.
I started my career as a researcher, because in research we do not have to face many peoples, so less talking but my career aspirations forced me to face up to my disability. How many children accept that they too have "an incurable speech defect," and will perhaps accept compromises in their life that might deny them the chance to be what they could, and should have been? During my postdoctoral fellowship at McGill University, I took speech therapy for my stuttering at Royal Victoria Hospital, McGill University, Montreal. My speech pathologist Mr. Garth Foote always asked me to talk with new comers in our speech therapy group session and told them that I was a Professor at a University, just to encourage the young boys and girls who stutter. During discussions with those boys and girls, I realized that I can make a difference in somebody’s life. I can saw the rays of hope and encouragement in the eyes of young people’s; they can also achieve the highest education and respectful position with this disability, if I can.

I would be an excellent educationist only because of my passion, but because I hope to see the rays of achievements in the shinning eyes of all my students of inclusive education after the successful completion of their work. Not only do I want to transfer my wealth of information to students through academic skills, but I also want to participate in teaching them life lessons such as: self-confidence, autonomy, acceptance of rules and regulations, consideration of others, true love and friendship, the value of community, as well as the importance of sportsmanship and fair play. I deeply aspire to play a fundamental role in ensuring that all students from all cultures and learning abilities have the opportunity to be guided in a positive learning environment. I am committed to the physical, emotional, and intellectual development of my students.

Personal and Professional Life Goals Essay: NCSU College Admission

Personal and Professional Life Goals Essay: NCSU College Admission

By looking into the future, we, as humans, like to see ourselves doing something good or personally beneficial. Humans reach this state of success by setting and accomplishing goals. A goal is a very broad task that can range anywhere from scoring in basketball to discovering the cure to cancer. I, like any other human, have a set of goals of which I pursue. Describing all my goals would not fit into one paper so I have chosen my top three goals.

To succeed in any goal, one has to put forth their best effort. That being said, my first goal is to succeed in any task I attempt. By trying my best, I can complete almost any goal set to myself. However, I do not succeed in every task I attempt. Failure is generally assumed to be a negative word. I believe failure is essential for success because people will always learn from their mistakes. I believe if one puts their full effort in completing a task he/she will truly not fail, regardless the outcome.

There is virtually unlimited amount of information in society. Also, with technology advancing at an alarming rate, new information is being recorded daily. This information is essentially sitting, just waiting to be learned. I would like to learn as much of this mass of information as possible. I am the kind of person who enjoys hearing small random facts about virtually anything. For example, "it is impossible to keep your eyes open while sneezing." Completely random, yet, I find great interest in this fact. Being the nerd I am, I have tested this theory and when I sneeze and I am yet to keep my eyes open. I also would like expanding my knowledge on subjects in school, preferably math and science subjects. Additionally, mastering all this information would greatly benefit me in real world situations.

After thinking about future jobs, I have realized I don't necessarily want a super high paying job, I just want one I am happy to do. As my dad always says to me, "if you do something you love, you never work a day in your life." This quote is very inspiring to me and I seek to "never go to work in the future." With respect to the love of my job, I also want it to pull in enough money so I can easily support a family. I believe one doesn't need loads of money to live a happy life, just need the essentials paid for. People will find happiness in other things than money. Personally, I find joy in small things such as a playing a game of catch or family dinners, both of which have little or no financial requirement. With a great job, I would not only have an enjoyable life at work, but I would have an enjoyable life at home.

With only a limited amount of time, people need to stay true to their beliefs and make the most of life. Now that all my goals are in place, it is time to fulfill them to the best of my ability. North Carolina State University is the first stepping stone to success in my life. With a solid Engineering program, classes overflowing with information, and a high job-placement rate, North Carolina State University will help me complete almost all my personal goals. I have planned the road ahead and now it is time to walk.

Humans reach this state of success by setting and accomplishing goals. A goal is a very broad task that can range anywhere from scoring in basketball to discovering the cure to cancer. I, like any other human, have a set of goals of which I pursue.

None of this needs to be included. This is what I think of as a "warm up exercise for writing." It is your reflection that should be edited out of the final draft. Let the essay begin with a bold statement of your goals.

No need to explain yourself this way: D escribing all my goals would not fit into one paper so I have chosen my top three goals.

Your goals are important enough to be the focus. Introduce them in this intro paragraph. Introduce the actual goals, not the notion of human goal setting, etc.

Here is something else we do not need to be told: To succeed in any goal, one has to put forth their best effort.

I am going to be honest. This essay does not describe goals. It is a reflective discussion, but it focuses on concepts that should not be the focus. Here is the only part I like:

With a solid Engineering program, classes overflowing with information, and a high job-placement rate, North Carolina State University will help me complete almost all my personal goals.--- this is where the essay really begins. It is important for you to read some recent articles about (what kind of?) engineering, see what is going on in the field, learn about recent events in the eng. department at NCSU, and write about specific goals related to your chosen field.

Sorry to be critical. but it is important to treat this like a serious exposition of your career outlook. almost like a research paper about your current aspirations and a declaration of what you have learned, what you are learning, and what you have been reading, etc. what you INTEND for your time in college.

Communication is defined as a process by which we assign and convey meaning in an attempt to create shared understanding. This process requires a vast repertoire of skills in intrapersonal and interpersonal processing, listening, observing, speaking, questioning, analyzing, and evaluating. Use of these processes is developmental and transfers to all areas of life: home, school, community, work, and beyond. It is through communication that collaboration and cooperation occur.

Firstly, when we define experience it usually refers as the person being used to any kind of overcoming situation. Though it was regarded as the second important factor for the person to develop his professional skill, but nowadays it is considered as the prime factor in the corporate world. Generally experience makes the person works to be smooth in manner.

Whenever we talks about education it is regarded as prime factor in the person's life. Persons without education would like be raw hand or we can say empty hand as well. Education not only brings the skill but develops the person attitude and behaviour in the long term.

1.4 Methods to improve Professional and personal skill.

Most effective ways to learn:

1 Improve Reading skills

Reading skills is one of the effective ways to develop and make out the meaning or we can say the ability to grasp.

2. Improve Writing Skills

Until and unless we don't have the ability to write or to express what we want to say in the the form of writing we don't succeed in personal as well as in professional life. It is such a skill to disclose the view, feeling, expression and so on.

3. Improve Active Listening Skills

When we talk about listening skills it relates somewhat to the patience, concentration of the individual. There is saying that "Successful managers listens more and speak less". If we applied the same principle in the daily life then it is sure that the person would be effective and efficient in his/her life.

4. Improve Leadership skill

Leadership skill refers to the ability to lead others. It is such a skill which involves the directing and influencing others. Development of leadership skill helps the person to be better than manager when it comes to influencing the group, individual.

5. Improve Research Skills

Research skill is such a skill which makes the individual to be practical oriented rather than theoretical oriented. To learn any subject with a more in depth or any person who is inquisitive in nature then it helps a lot.

2.1 Personal Skill Audit (SWOT Analysis)

Chances of getting middle level managerial position after U.K M.B.A certificate.

2.2 Identify my learning style.

The learning style is generally known as educating method to an individual. There are various models used for identifying the learning styles. Among them the popular categorisation of learning style is given by Kolb learning style and another given by Honey and Mumford. These two models have the similar approach to learning style. Honey and Mumford use three definitions such as: Pragmatist, Theorist, Activist, and Reflector where as Kolb's learning style use: Converging, Assimilating, Diverging, and Accommodating.

According to Honey and Mumford the following questionnaire is used to describe the individual learning style:

Note: 10 points is for very good description where as 1 stands for very low description.

Definition Description Pragmatist:

You are practical person

Your like to solve problems

You enjoy experimenting to improve techniques

You frequently come up with the answer to a problem

Your only interest in theories is to see if they work in practice

You dislike situations where thee is no clear practical outcome

According to Honey and Mumford, I consider myself as Pragmatism where as Converging (Doing and Thinking) according to Kolb. This type of people is practical persons and likes to solve problems as well as enjoy experimenting to improve techniques. I think that learning could be obtained through proven practical oriented application. This happens to me while reading the newspaper specially Financial Times. I study only that part of section which has been accepted by all and has the practical implication. At the same time, learning could be obtained through sufficient number of case studies and simulations applications.

2.3 Analyse how I am managing my Time and Stress.

Stress is not bad in itself rather it is believed that stress helps the person to prepare for certain challenges. But it should be noted that too much stress leads to physical and emotional problem. Generally, Eustress is seen as positive approach rather than distress. According to Richard Lazarus (1974) stress is healthy or gives one a felling of fulfilment.

According to Research the causes of stress could be analyse in following category -

Lack of effective time management

Too much work pressure and so on

When we take into consideration regarding the effect of time management and stress in our day-to-day routine many people are directly influenced from either positive part of stress or negative part of stress. Having said that the more you do time planning the more you are in control. So analysing this statement we could visualize that time management is the most important aspects to manage stress. The effective way of doing work is should be realistically and practically according to daily time log. Logging the time for a week is one of the widely accepted and effective and efficient ways of dealing with stress. Sometimes the classification of to-do-list for the specific work sound better according to priority to work.

For e.g. Marking items as "A", "B" or "C" in priority list of the day. And at the end of the day we should spend few minutes to review the list. Similarly, we could ask ourselves the following questions so as to see the end result.

Do I am in control of time?

How much do I spend on planned activities?

How much time do I spend on tasks other people could do?

Does I was busy to solve the low-priority work keeping apart of high-priority activities?

Is there any area that I need to change?

7. Solution: To overcome with this barrier, I must practice different ways of communication either in home, in class, in work place, attending seminars.

8. Action milestones: Setting reasonable and achievable time line deliverables is the key to setting milestones. On the Gantt chart, each milestone is based on the achievement of tasks and subtasks that are prerequisite to reaching that milestone. This is a process that I am totally comfortable with.

9. Overall target date: The overall target date for achieving my aim is the completion of this course, i.e. July 2009.

10. Progress tracking: For improving my communication skill, I will use the checklist method and will keep on practicing, and also ask feedback from professors, friends.
